The Journey- Fear

26/10/2020

It’s been a wild year the coronavirus pandemic, wars, wild fires, elections and brexit. You can name it all. This time last year I was attending the first Liberty outreach in Ogbomosho, Nigeria. This year they’re fighting against corruption with SARS and the government. Taking a stroll down history, I remember 10 years ago. Fear had a grip on me towards the last month or two before turning 18. I started to remember all the stories that shows up in the news of young men not making it to their 18th birthday or getting killed shortly after it. Fear settled in so much growing up in south London where the young die over knife crime and gang activities. Whilst I wasn’t involved nothing stopped one from being a victim. I guess what helped fuel the fire was the attempt by two gang members in Camberwell looking to rob me at the traffic light. I still remember it vividly. After that narrow escape that probably planted the seeds in me. There were lots of fears and uncertainties during that time period with life and education. Ten years on it’s a new battle. Employment. In all things I just need to get into the habit of trusting God who sees the end goal. After I had turned 18 the fear kind of just left me for a few months until another thing occurred but that’s for another time. Overall I’m grateful to God for letting me see the 28th year. More things to come. I’m glad that this year has really allowed me to get a grip back on my focus in animation.
