Visiting a familiar face once again

We don’t see too often these days

We only see when it’s time to use each other’s expertise

The difference is, this time I didn’t see it through (2018 black history drawings)

Then the next time we had limited access

We could only communicate through a glass wall

I tried to reach out and touch your hand but the surface is all I felt

You are right there

I can see you

But

There’s a glass wall set up between us

Creating a barrier

I sigh

Exhale in disbelief and the wall replies the breath that I put out with a mist

Now I can’t see you clearly

And then it hit

I started to draw on these walls

Brainstorming

Refreshing

I don’t see you anymore because you were always by my side

I just needed a change of perspective

Showing me that the barriers in life are there to be worked with
