You stripped me away
Piece by piece
Surrounded by the conflict you brought
Till there was no more noise left
You confined me
Locked me in
Naked and bare
Left alone to myself
A reflection so hard to recognise
Who is this familiar face
A shell
A shadow of what was
Where do I begin to pick the pieces of the puzzle
It’s been so long
I tried to fight the storm but lacked the muscle
Then I tried to silence the storm with a muzzle
Still it persisted, so I had to reshuffle
The deck of cards I had been playing with
Realign my thoughts
Though isolated
I was allowed to wonder
And that small bit of freedom gave me the chance to ponder
And plant my feet in a land yonder
I dug under
So deep to the roots of the stem
It was there that I found it
Unbeknownst to men
akin to the egg beneath the hen
I unearthed a hidden gem
