Christmas 2021

Christmas Christmas Christmas….

Where do I begin with this day and festive period?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Well at least it should be.

Primary school made this period exciting because we used to sing carols in lead up to Christmas. Then decorations came out alongside the tree. Special food started to come on the menu. Talks of what gifts were gonna be asked of their parents started to circulate and some were already smiling coz they knew the gift they wanted was wrapped up already. Raffles were had and advent calendars with chocolate were opened up daily. Gifts and small moments of joy in anticipation of the day brought that wonder to our lives. At least through my lens.

Whilst I didn’t live out the Christmas Day that was portrayed on old school American family films, the day was enjoyable in its own way. After a period of time, it became routine and repetitive the older I got. We live a fast life now. I can place an order for things that I want online at anytime vs before, certain things were a luxury to me and hard to grab. Gifts are nice but it doesn’t hit the same. The only joy is the person behind the gift and what they mean to me.

And I guess that’s the point

The main message of Christmas that society has tried to ruin is in the name…

Christ

Jesus was born to execute the biggest chess move in mankind’s history. But most importantly He came as a servant, to serve mankind. And with this, Christmas now takes on a new meaning that I must make sure to consciously carry with me. The attitude of servitude on the day. Whether it’s helping out with the food and setting up the house or giving gifts to others, carrying a servant’s heart goes a long way in displaying love on the day. Gifts are meaningless without the attachment of love behind it. Jesus is the ultimate love and He came to bring the ultimate gift. Salvation for every soul. With that said I’ll list a few things I’m grateful for. It’s always good to be appreciative of life.

Things that I’m grateful for…

Health- Despite this repetitive covid crisis I thank God for good health.

Family- For having family around to relate with.

😏👏🏾 My first Christmas off the market thanks to a certain hot spice. I look forward to our future together.

Hope- Having hope to look forward to a future where I can celebrate Christmas with a young family of my own and let my kids be awestruck about the Christmas festivities. Hopefully that would ignite the childhood wonder of Christmas I had many years ago.

Have a Merry Christmas
